Bosch dishwasher error E24 – Drain blockage

Bosch dishwasher error E24 – Drain blockage

Is your Bosch dishwasher not draining properly? The E24 error signals a drainage issue, which can leave standing water in the bottom of the machine and prevent it from completing its cycle.

Common causes:

  • Clogged drain filter

Over time, food particles, grease, and debris can accumulate in the filter, blocking water flow.

  • Kinked or blocked drain hose

A twisted or clogged drain hose restricts proper drainage and can cause the error to appear.

  • Faulty drain pump

If the drain pump isn’t functioning correctly, it won’t be able to remove water effectively from the tub.

  • Blocked garbage disposal connection

If your dishwasher is connected to a garbage disposal, food waste buildup in the disposal can prevent water from draining properly.

How to fix it:

  1. Clean the drain filter

Remove the filter and rinse it under running water to clear any debris.

  1. Inspect the drain hose

Check for kinks or blockages and straighten the hose if necessary.

  1. Check the garbage disposal connection

If the dishwasher drains through the garbage disposal, run the disposal to clear any blockages.

  1. Test the drain pump

If the pump isn’t working or making unusual noises, it may need to be replaced.

Pro tip

To prevent future clogs, scrape excess food off dishes before placing them in the dishwasher, and clean the filter at least once a month.
